I love KDE 3.5x

KDE
Description:

I love multiple wallpaper on multiple desktop, with scroll button.
I love Quicklauncher, and all the quick drag and drop functions.
I love superkaramba with all the simple functions.
I have a top computer but kde4 is so slow.... The menu is so unperspicuity.
Kde4 have many spectacular visual effect, but for what?
During work, after 10 min, I shot down all effect, since too slow, and too embarrassing (or too ugly).
I love all the Ctrl+scroll functions,on kde3.5, and all the clocks....

Résumé: not everyone have a hyperspace computer, and new distros, with kde, must
have alternative for kde3.5 AND kde4.

:)) I switched messages ... sorry, I've just write up my "signature"

This was the comment:

Even that I no longer use 3.5.10, sometime I still miss it, too.
I really don't know why, exactly . Most probably I'm nostalgic.
Anyway, being an artist, I find KDE 4 nicer.

I won't switch. KDE4 give me weird stability issues on my laptop when on for "longer" period of time like week. Also logout takes ages like +30sek.
And this is no "your hw is old" -> ProBook series and everything woks just nicely, everything just works even better on KDE3 \o/

If I switch I'll build some flux/openbox custom combo, no new Gnome or KDE for me

I agree with Flea. I have used the latest version of kde4, and while it has definitely stabilized, it still doesn't match kde 3 in reliability, versatility and more. I'm still of the opinion that the good from kde4 should be used to update kde3 and then build from there. Too much was lost in what I think is a blind and fruitless competition with other guis and with MS.

Why cry when you can fly?

The KDE3 fork, Trinity, is alive and well at http://www.trinitydesktop.org/. There are binaries there for Debian, Ubuntu, SuSE, RHEL/CentOS, Fedora, Mageia and PCLinuxOS, and LiveCDs of PCLinuxOS, Fedora, Ubuntu and Debian.

Trinity happily lives alongside a KDE4 install and runs some (at least) KDE4 apps as well as its own and GtkGnome2/3.

I'm happily running a few machines (Debian Stable and Ubuntu 12.04LTS) with the TDE 3.5.12.2 desktop. Version 3.5.14 is in the works now. It keeps getting better and more stable and it does what I want.

Correction: 3.5.13.2, not 3.5.12.2. Sorry.

Trinity Desktop is an updated KDE3! With many improvements. The upcoming R14 release does NOT require HAL and works fine on systemd. 3.5.13 continues the pure Qt3/Hal/KDE line. I know, I package TDE for Archlinux :)
